Skate Great has grown to be U.S. Figure Skating's largest Basic Skills program in WNY and has been ranked sixth in the country out of over 1000 programs.

Each year, over 1,000 students learn to skate with Skate Great at four area rinks. Skate Great offers year-round programs at Holiday Twin Rinks in Cheektowaga and Leisure Rinks in Orchard Park, as well as seasonal programs at Hamburg's Town Arena and East Aurora's outdoor Time Warner Cable Classic Rink.

Skate Great offers a wide range of programs from Learn to Skate, which teaches students the fundamentals of skating, to specialized Figure Skating and Hockey programs that build on those skills. All of our classes have a low teacher-to-student ratio so each student gets lots of attention.

Many skaters elect to take private or semi-private lessons from one of Skate Great's coaches. A skater receives more individual attention in a lesson and is able to advance more quickly. Skate Great' coaches have a number of tools at their disposal to accelerate the learning experience, such as Dartfish, on- and off-ice harnesses, and cords. Skate Great's figure skating school offers daily practice ice, off-ice programs, skate camps, and special seminars.

Skate Great has a staff of over 25 highly qualified coaches. Most of them had noteworthy skating careers before joining Skate Great and have been selected as much for their experience as for their love of teaching. On-going education is encouraged and many regularly attend seminars and the Professional Skaters Association's national meetings and seminars.

Skate Great also offers additional skating opportunities to their skaters. Each year they partner with the Skating Club of Western New York to host the Rising Stars on Ice show. Each skater, whatever their age or ability, is encouraged to participate. Skate Great also hosts an annual Basic Skills Competition, which gives beginning skaters the opportunity to compete in a fun, non-threatening environment.
